This slide presentation, designed for LTC staff, may be given by the LTC’s in-service educator, consultant pharmacist, or other healthcare professional. Upon completion of this in-service, attendees will be able to:
- Describe the challenges related to the management of diabetes in the LTC setting
- Identify best practices for optimizing the care of diabetic residents
- Define a screening process for identifying diabetic residents
- Explain the components of an individualized care plan
- Define acute complications of diabetes in the elderly
- Develop management strategies to prevent and address complications of diabetes in
the elderly
