The Nursing Home Quality Initiative is an effort by the United States Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) designed to improve the quality of care in nursing homes. The effort also provides consumers with access to quality measures information to assist with nursing home selections. Consumer information about nursing homes is available on www.medicare.gov/nhcompare or by calling toll-free anytime, 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).

HQSI is working with all nursing homes throughout New Jersey on quality improvement activities. In addition, we are focusing efforts with a subgroup of nursing homes for advanced or targeted interventions. Interventions include technical assistance and  manuals, as well as help with quality improvement processes, care planning, auditing tools, and monitoring techniques.
