Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS)

PQRS is a voluntary reporting program that provides incentive payment to eligible professionals (EPs) who satisfactorily and successfully report data on quality measures for covered Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) services furnished to Medicare Part B Fee-for-Service (FFS) beneficiaries. The PQRS program covers a wide range of categories, including preventive services, coronary artery disease, heart failure, overuse or misuse of medication, and specialty-specific measures. In total, the program includes more than 194 quality measures.

Why Participate?

  • One in five EPs currently participate in PQRS and the numbers are increasing
  • Start reporting today so you can claim your share of the PQRS Program incentive
  • Eliminate the 2015 payment adjustment (based on non-reporting for CY 2013)
  • PQRS is anticipated to transition from a pay-for-reporting system to a pay-for performance system in the future – be better prepared for changes in the healthcare system
  • Improve the quality of care you provide

Are you Eligible?

Under the Medicare program, the following professionals are eligible to participate in PQRS: physicians are defined as a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Osteopathy (DO), Doctor of Oral Surgery (DDS) or Dental Medicine (DMD), Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM), Doctor of Optometry (OD) or Chiropractor (DC).
