Key Responsibilities:

The Physician Advisor provides consultative support to Healthcare Quality Strategies, Inc. (HQSI) and Physician Reviewers in determining if care given was medically necessary, provided in the most appropriate setting, coded appropriately, and of acceptable quality. Detailed documentation is a critical requirement for HQSI review determinations and beneficiary complaint investigations. 

The Physician Advisor provides clinical support for Medicare contract tasks and other HQSI contracts. Responsibilities also include recruiting and training Physician Reviewers in support of HQSI's physician reviewer network. Prepares presentations and represents HQSI at external physician or other healthcare provider meetings and events.

Skills requirements include:

• Ability to review a medical record and make a determination regarding necessity, appropriateness, and quality of care

•   
• Ability to clearly and succinctly express review decisions in writing

•   
• Ability to communicate effectively with practicing physicians and healthcare providers about potential utilization and quality questions

Educational and practice background:

•   
• Board certification in an American Board of Medical Specialties-recognized specialty

•   
• Active, unrestricted New Jersey medical license
