HOSPITAL DATA COLLECTION
Reporting Hospital Quality Data for Annual Payment Update (RHQDAPU)

Healthcare Quality Strategies, Inc., (HQSI) assists hospitals in improving the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of data transmitted to the CMS clinical data warehouse in support of CMS’ RHQDAPU requirements. Through RHQDAPU, CMS requires Medicare-certified acute care hospitals to report a series of quality measures that relate to services furnished in inpatient hospitals. Hospitals that fail to meet the RHQDAPU requirements will have their Medicare payment update reduced by specific percentage points each year. The reduction for 2009 is 2%.

RHQDAPU is intended to equip consumers with quality of care information to make more informed decisions about their healthcare, while encouraging hospitals and clinicians to improve the quality of care provided to all patients. The hospital quality of care information gathered through the initiative is available to consumers on the Hospital Compare website.

QualityNet

CMS established the QualityNet public website as a comprehensive resource for hospitals to provide up-to-date information on quality measures and healthcare quality news, as well as tools to improve patient care. The secure site of QualityNet allows RHQDAPU hospital participants access to confidential data reports.
